Bandra Seaside : Carter Road

I am ashamed to say that despite the fact I can see the sea from my sofa, that in the seven weeks I have been living in Mumbai, I had not been down to the 'sea-side'.  Not the sea-side as us Brits would know it but as about as good as it's going to get in Mumbai.  So this afternoon, despite it being a  humid and slightly overcast day, Mr Jules and I took the 10 minute walk over to Carter Road for a Sunday Promenade.  Here are the images:

It doesn't matter who you are or what you do or do not possess...the sea belongs to everyone....including these homeless kids

...and this dog

A meeting place for groups of teenagers

The 'beach-front' apartments in the background still being developed in droves

By the sea this small area of green is being used to dry things (I say 'things' as I have no idea what these are!)

Children's facilities are great - but in a city of 16 million people, I am amazed to see only a handful of parents with their kids playing here.  Perhaps it's too humid to embrace the outdoors today....

Save for the rubbish everywhere, this is almost a picturesque scene.

A makeshift fishing village

There is always beauty to be found in amongst the squalor

More open air laundering...not overly convinced that this is the way to get 'whiter whites'!

PEACE IS THE REAL MUSCLE

We rounded off our promenade, with a lovely cappucino and cookie at Costa on Carter Road overlooking the sea.
